Adding Jurisdictions to a Cab Card
Expanding your operations? Forgot to add a jurisdiction when you registered or renewed? Not certain which state or states you will operate in at renewal time? No prob- lem. Motor carriers with apportioned license plates can use MoDOT Carrier Express to add states and provinces to a cab card any time. Just follow these steps to add one or several jurisdictions:
Log into MoDOT Carrier Express and click into the IRP sec- tion. Next, click on Supplement, then select Add Jurisdic- tion from the supplement menu and complete the infor- mation requested on the IRP Mileage page.
If you previously had a jurisdiction on your cab card and removed it at renewal, actual miles exist. Change the “N” to an “A” to indicate you want that jurisdiction back on your cab card. Leave the mileage as it appears in the mile- age box for that jurisdiction.
If adding a new jurisdiction, the only type of miles that can be added are E (Estimated).
Did you start working on next year’s renewal? If you add a jurisdiction in the current year after you begin your re- newal, you must indicate YES or NO at the top of the mile- age page to indicate whether the jurisdiction should be carried over to the next registration year.
If you select NO, the Temporary Vehicle Registration docu- ment will automatically expire at the end of the current registration period or it can be set to expire after the cur- rent fleet expiration – up to 45 days.
If you select YES, the
system will generate a supplement to add that jurisdiction for the upcoming registration year
IRP Renewal Documents Due With Application Filing
Did you know that when you file an application to renew apportioned license plates online, you can help speed up the process and get your International Registration Plan cab card faster? It’s easy. Just be sure to email, fax or mail the additional documents required for renewal at the same time you file your renewal application to MoDOT Motor Carrier Services. These documents should be sent no later than the application deadline.
In addition to the renewal application you’ll need: • A copy of your property tax receipt; • A copy of your lease (if applicable), • A copy of your title application (if applicable), and ; • A copy of your federal highway use tax receipt (2290)
This year, the 2290 receipt requirement is waived until Nov. 30 – or until such a time as the U.S. Congress resolves issues involving the expiration date of the program.
When you fax IRP documents to (573) 751-0916, you will receive an automated response confirming that your fax was received. It is not necessary to call MCS to confirm re- ceipt. Documents are processed in the order that they are received, so sending documents early means you receive credentials sooner.
