Green nappies N

EW MOTHERS in Ar- gyll are being told how they can save £500 and help the environment by switching to real nap- pies. Group for Recycling in Argyll and Bute (GRAB) Trust is en- couraging mothers to sling their disposable nappies and are offering a starter pack to help them. GRAB Trust project worker Caroline Askew said: ‘By the time your baby is potty trained he or she could have had as many as 4,000 nappy chang- es, or more. So whilst all parents will have become a dab hand at a swift nappy change, parents who choose disposables end up throwing away their hard earned cash along with the dirty nappy.

Real Nappies are made from soft, comfortable fabrics,

which come in a range of styles and designs. The fabric provides natural absorbency without the need for super- absorbent gels, deodorants or chemicals. They are made from the same fabrics as eve- ryday clothes and give par- ents control over what they put next to their baby’s sensi- tive and absorbent skin. Many of today’s parents re- member terry squares, pins, plastic pants and boiling and are put off by the thought of washing dirty nappies and lots of extra laundry. Today’s nappies are easier to care for. New research carried out by Go Real, the Real Nappy Information Service, has re- vealed that nearly 50% of women aged 18 – 45 would consider using Real Nappies should they be planning to have a baby.
