Island in the eye of a storm


Malta is closer to North Africa than it is to the rest of Europe. But while Libya, Syria and other nearby places are engulfed by war and revolution, the tiny EU island state remains an oasis of tranquillity. When peace finally returns to the wider region, Malta’s freight industry should be in a unique position to exploit the island’s place in-between two worlds.
