‘Queen’ Stacey joins bill for the Hill
QUEEN of the Jungle Stacey Solomon is joining the line-up of stars at Kings Hill’s Music on the Hill festival. Stacey, who was the winner of
ITV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ in 2010, and came third in the 2009 series of X Factor, will host and perform at Family Sun- day on June 26. She will appear alongside Bjorn Again, XFM’s Dave Berry, X Fac- tor’s Ben Mill with his Simply Rod tribute band and headliners ABC. The three-day event stars

STUDENTS have the chance to get in- volved in Music on the Hill with a com- petition for the winning band to perform at the festival on Sunday, June 26. Schools and colleges around Kent, Sussex and south east London are in- vited to select their favourite student band for entry to the contest. These will be judged by TV Presenter
and DJ Dave Berry, who will meet and introduce the winning band to an ex- pected audience of around 5,000 people
in a dedicated arena and in addi- tion to a great musical experience, there will be good quality food and drink, where possible sourced from Kent producers. Tickets are on sale for Katherine Jenkins with the National Sym- phony Orchestra at £35, and McFly at £33.50. For the family fun day, tickets cost £29.50 for adults and £16 for children, aged six to 16; family tickets are £80. For all concerts, children aged five and under go free. Let the music play MUSIC on the Hill has been given the official go- ahead by Tonbridge and Malling Council’s licensing committee. The three-day music fes-
tival at Kings Hill had met opposition from a few resi- dents living close to the site in Tower View, who raised concerns about traf- fic and noise issues. Tosatisfy police and health and safety guide- lines, the premises licence was granted with a number of conditions including a park and ride service, noise level management and a ban on alcohol being brought onto the site dur- ing the public opening times on June 25 and 26.
Comic Joe’s Relief help
COMEDIAN Joe Pasquale joined KCC staff as they spent the night taking donations over the phones for this year’s Comic Relief appeal. Based at the Contact Centre at Invicta House in Maidstone,
around 90 volunteers took 3,000 calls from 7pm until midnight, raising around £125,000, with another 40 volunteers helping to make sure that the evening ran smoothly.
