Engine News - New Engines from Yanmar, John Deere and Honda YANMAR UNVEILS DYNAMIC V-8

DIESEL ENGINE

Continuing its tradition of excellent horsepower-to-weight ratios, Yanmar intro- duces its compact, new 4.46 L, twin-turbo V- 8 diesel engine. EPA Tier 3 compliant, the 8LV is offered in popular 320 hp and 370 hp models at a dry weight of 992 lbs., delivering the powerful benefits of diesel engines in both inboard and sterndrive configurations. The 8LV’s twin turbocharger and com- mon rail fuel injection create superior accel- eration and fuel economy. This high-torque engine produces an exceptionally broad power range, from 550 rpm at idle to 3,800 at top end. Smooth operation comes from a hydraulic clutch. Drive systems include the KMH50 series down angle or V-drive, as well as Yanmar’s new ZT370 dual propeller sterndrive.

This is the first engine to utilize Yanmar’s own CAN-bus vessel control system, the Yanmar VCS. Inclusive of controls, full-color digital displays with NMEA2000 or J1939 gauge output, and all cabling and wiring, the system was completely developed by Yanmar to meet the company’s high stan- dards of quality and dependability. Unmatched maneuverability comes from the optional Yanmar joystick, which empowers owners with superior control to execute 360 turns, as well as sideways and diagonal movement. Expected availability of the joystick option is mid-year.

Exceptionally low noise and vibration levels, combined with simple installation and service, make the 8LV ideal for a variety of boats up to 45'. Its also excellent for repower-

ing, offering the benefits of diesel engines over similar-sized V-8 gas models.

JOHN DEERE POWER SYSTEMS LAUNCHES NEWEST DIESEL ENGINE MIAMI, FL — John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is pleased to announce its newest marine engine will be on display at the 2011 Miami International Boat Show, February 17 – 21, 2011.
