Enthusiastic Ben earns East Wing extra funds A Dragon’s Den style event has secured Maidstone Museum’s East Wing Project a further £700.

Ben Potts, who works for Maidstone Borough Council, faced the dragons to work for a cash boost for a new piece of educational equipment for the East Wing extension.

The 21-year-old presented his case to an audience at the Gulbenkian Theatre in Canterbury. The panel of dragons included - Geraldine Allinson, Chairman of the Kent Messenger Group, Jaqui Thompson who is Operational Specialist at Barclays University of Kent branch and Sidney Wager, Barclays director for the Kent coast area.

There was £3,000 to divide between six applications and Ben won £700 towards a visualiser for the education room in the new East Wing.

Ben said: “I’m so happy to have raised some money for such a worthy cause. The museum is a vital resource for Maidstone and this contribution will go a long way towards the development of education and learning there.”

Ben took some objects to show during his presentation which included a 3,000 year old mummified cat and an Iguanodon neck bone which is over 130 million years old.
