Meal Times BREAKFAST

“The staff are all incredibly friendly and accommodating and I

trust them completely.” PARENT

Breakfast will usually be a choice of cereals (low sugar varieties such as Rice Crispies, Cornflakes, Weetabix), toast and milk but on occasions we will have croissants, muffins, fruit and yoghurt. Younger babies will be catered for according to their needs.

LUNCH Lunch is a hot meal provided at 11.45am.

TEA Tea is high tea provided at 3.30pm and can be cheese on toast, jacket potatoes and cheese or beans, samosas, sandwiches, crumpets, scones and sometimes salad. Fresh fruit always follows tea.

SNACKS

Children have a snack at 10.00am and 3.00pm. Drinks are always available throughout the day. Babies’ meals are prepared according to their needs.

Meal times for the children are a learning and social time. Here the children learn about hygiene, nutrition and cultures.

All types of diets can be catered for. Children on special diets and vegetarians are always catered for and allergies can be discussed with the staff.

Babies and younger children will follow their own meal times and the staff observe these. Children adapt gradually to nursery meal times.

Nursery staff supervise the children over the lunch period. The cook provides nutritious and appealing meals in our kitchen from a varied menu.

The entrance to Hallfieldfirst is secure and is permanently locked. An electronic entrance monitored by cameras secures the nursery. CCTV cameras are also situated in each room with monitors located in the main office. Security arrangements are put in place when you enrol your child, allowing only designated persons to collect him/her from the nursery. The safety of your child is a prime concern and we aim to ensure their well-being at all times.

The nursery has been approved by the Fire Authority and by Environmental Health. Our routine procedures reassure parents that their children are in a safe and healthy environment.

Security

Hallfieldfirst has safe indoor areas and our outdoor garden is securely fenced off. The nursery has six welcoming, comfortable rooms. Your child’s room will be determined by their age, needs and stage of development.

All staff have been trained specifically to work with children aged 0-3 years and receive ongoing internal and external training to ensure that they are up to date on current best practice and legislation. All staff have been cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau and have undergone medical screening. We operate a staff to child ratio of 1:3 for children under 2 and 1:4 for children aged 2-3. Nursery grants and vouchers are accepted in Hallfieldfirst. Most children move through to the Pre-Prep from Hallfieldfirst and staff work closely together to provide continuity, progression and development between these two key areas.

Further information on daily routines, activities and staff can be found on our website at www.hallfieldschool.co.uk

A menu is displayed in the nursery. Our aim is to provide nutritious meals and snacks reflecting a variety of cultural backgrounds. The menu is on a 5-week rota and meals from many countries and cultures are provided. The children are encouraged to try a wide variety of foods according to their needs and stages of development. Individual children’s needs can be discussed with Hallfieldfirst staff and we always endeavour to provide for them as far as possible.

Staff

The staff work as a team and share the responsibility for caring for your child. A ‘Key Worker’ approach is operated in the Hallfieldfirst nursery, this offers a close link between you, the nursery and your son or daughter. They will be introduced to one person when joining us and that person will observe him or her during their time in that room.
