Farhadi’s About Elly won the Silver Bear in Berlin 2009, and the Iranian director is back in competition this year with the story of a couple whose marriage falls apart when the husband calls off their plans to leave their homeland.
July’s The Future has its international premiere in Berlin after itsSundance debut. July directs, writes and stars in the story of a thirtysomething couple whose relationship is tested when they adopt a terminally ill cat.
Tarr returns to the Berlinale with a film about a man, his daughter and their dying horse. Inspired by a story of philosopher FriedrichNietzsche protecting a horse from abuse, the picture stars Janos Derzsi, Erika Bok and Mihaly Kormos.
The second film fromTeoman, whose debut Summer Book premiered at Berlin in 2008, is based on Baris Bicakci’s novel about two male friends whose relationship is tested when a young woman moves into their home.
This Argentinian comedy drama is about a man stunned when his girlfriend asks for time apart. Moreno made his feature debut with The Custodian, a winner of Berlin’s Alfred Bauer Award in 2006.
South Korean director Lee returns to Berlin after 2009’s My Dear Enemy with this drama about a young married couple who are on the verge of breaking up but spend one last day together. Hyun Bin and ImSu-jung star.
The second feature from German documentary-maker Veiel charts the relationship between writer Bernward Vesper and Red Army Faction member Gudrun Ensslin. The cast includes August Diehl, Lena Lauzemis and Alexander Fehling.
Two women reunite in London where they discuss the details — and their different memories — of a life-changing event when they were teenagers in Jerusalem.
With his second feature, Marston — using mostly local non-professional actors — looks at the impact of Albanian blood feuds on the lives of two teenagers.
