UMaine and USM CMENC Chapter News
Members of the University of Maine Collegiate MENC chapter attended the MMEA General Music workshop in Augusta in October and found it very worthwhile. David Bretzius provided us with a full day of thought- provoking ideas and enjoyable music making. Thanks to Heidi McCarthy for all of her hard work in planning this event. Members of our chapter also enjoyed attending the second annual New England CMENC Sym- posium in October, which was hosted by the USM chapter. On February 15, Pat Michaud will be presenting a clinic to our chapter on the Music Technology Class that he teaches at Hamp- den Academy. This class was recently featured in an article in the Bangor Daily News. Other clinics are be- ing planned for later dates in the semester. Our chapter looks forward to attending the MMEA In-service conference at USM in May.
The primary event of the USM CMENC chapter during the fall was planning and hosting the second annual New England CMENC Symposium on October 30, which was a great success. The chapter has also hosted several guest speakers, including Rollo Dilworth, who provided a choral workshop attended by approxi- mately 45 students. The chapter is also raising funds to attend the Eastern Division MENC conference in Baltimore this spring. Twenty students plan to attend.
