SHALOM!

As you receive this issue of Jewish Voice Today, our amazing team of talented and compassionate medical and lay volunteers will be in Woliso, Ethiopia. This has been a much-anticipated outreach to an entirely new community of Ethiopian Jews, recently identified and authenticated. When I visited the Gefat Tribe with our exploratory team last year, they embraced us with such a warm welcome and told us they had been praying that we would come and help them. You can imagine how that motivated us to assemble our team and set a date as quickly as possible! These dear, forgotten people live in primitive conditions—some have never seen a doctor.

What a privilege it is to be able to bring physical relief to the remnant of Israel, Jesus’ brethren, as a demonstration of His love. What a blessing it is to “preach the Good News to the poor” (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18) and witness lives transformed for eternity! Thank you for your partnership in this miracle!

Please put our Hear O’ Israel! Festival of Jewish Music and Dance, planned for August in Argentina, on the top of your prayer list. Spiritual inroads to South America’s Jewish community are ever more

critical as Latin America grows increasingly pro- Palestinian and anti-Israel. Spurred on by the alliance between Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, both Argentina and Brazil have announced their intent to recognize a Palestinian state with its capital city in Jerusalem. Of great concern is the prospect that Uruguay, Chile, Peru, and Ecuador will soon follow. This portends a less than hospitable climate for the Jews of South America—many of whom originated there fleeing Hitler’s ovens during the Holocaust.

Standing with Israel has never been popular, and I believe it is going to become an even more divisive issue in the months ahead. Jewish Voice will always stand with Israel—the Apple of God’s eye—and will inspire and equip you with what you need to stand firm as well. We pray this issue of Jewish Voice Today builds your faith to stand boldly for the truth of God.

From our family to yours, we are so thankful for those of you who pray for us. It seems just yesterday I had the joy of announcing that March 2011 would bring a new little daughter to our family. It seemed such a long time away, yet here we are! Any day now, we will meet this new little life, being “fearfully and wonderfully made” by our Creator! We so appreciate your care and your prayers over the next few weeks.

Lord bless you, dear friends, for your partnership in the salvation of Israel.

For Zion’s sake,

Jonathan Bernis, President Jewish Voice Ministries International

P.S. Remember, Purim is March 20, and Passover is April 18—both very prophetic for the Body of Messiah. Consider asking your pastor to invite one of our representatives to speak about these biblical events to your congregation!
