GEORGE HEWITT

Be sure to stop by Ionson’s Saddlery booth while you’re at Can-Am. Author, TV personality and vintage rodeo cowboy George Hewitt will be signing books all three days of Can-Am. George has enjoyed an interest- ing life, by most people’s standards. By the age of 18, George was breaking and training horses. George also trained TB racehorses here and in the USA. and spent a good number of years as a bull rider. In the late 50’s, George’s work as a play-by-play sports announcer took him to the U.S., Australia, South America and England. George also enjoyed a 6 year stint training and racing Standardbreds on both Canadian and U.S. tracks, earn- ing a couple championships along the way. While he set numerous track records, winning with no-chance horses earned him the nickname “The Miracle Man”. George even competed in the world famous “Little Brown Jug” race driving a horse named “Shadow Don Time”. In the early 70’s, George starred in the T.V. series, “Open Roads” as well as other Disney projects. In 1998 George joined the prestigious “OPENING TEAM” at Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Read about his many adventures and misadventures in his books. But, come meet him at Can-Am and get it straight from the horse- trader’s mouth.
