eventually some music production work. I began writing music for plays, television, and film. I even started my own record label, Glencoe Records. Things were going smoothly, but I still longed for a contemporary, edgy approach to world and celtic music. I wanted to pay homage to my musical back- ground that was more extensive in South African, Native American, and Western European Choral Music, than just Celtic as I had come to be known for.

Finally, my answer came in the spring of 2010. I had just arrived back in Chicago after some time spent in Cornwall. As I was walking along the ri- verwalk in my favorite town along the Fox River, I stopped in front of the massive bronze sculp- ture of Ekwabet. The great Native American Lea- der who peacefully surrendered his lands and left a blessing behind for the settlers who took over.

My phone rang. It was Liz Madden. We had always seemed to miss each other when I was in Dublin, though we had exchanged emails often. I hadn’t heard her voice in years and it still had that same cheerful, bell-like ring to it. She had moved to Arkan- sas and was keen to do a gig together. After a two hour conversation, we realized that we shared the same passion for Native American and World Mu- sic and had similar experiences in Native America.

We eagerly started writing music and sending sound files to one another. Over many visits to Ar- kansas and Chicago, we became Shishonnah and started recording our first album Elysian Dreams due out in April through Glencoe Records/Healing Sun Productions. We play all of the instruments and do all of the vocals ourselves and work at a fast pace in the studio, not sacrificing quality. Our dear friend professor, Native American activist, and artist Gary White Deer, will be lending his smooth voice and lyrics to a couple of the songs on the album.

Our radio podcast show Wind Talker Radio will premiere in early spring and we are preparing for several shows in Europe, the United States, and the United Kingdom during the summer and fall. Our second album Riders In The Snow will be re- leased in November. We continue to laugh, write, and dream about our musical future together.
