boys who lived across the street, traveling the world, and our many late nights immersed in the books of C.S. Le- wis, Tolkien, and Michael Ende, Dani and I had anything but a dull childhood. We would write satirical plays based on our favorite stories or even Shakespeare, and would force our classmates to act them out on stage. Dani di- rected them and I, of course, would write the music for them. Real “sophisticated” stuff there. Luckily, I know of no recordings of that music out there. Needless to say, it was never published, lol. We were also star athletes, un- til a shattered ankle at 16 during a lifeguarding accident stalled my athletic career and Dani discovered her love for the arts and thus, we gave up soccer and swimming.


The teenage years passed quickly as Dani found her- self moving to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career, and I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago to pursue my music career. There, I received a scholar- ship and was taken under the wing of Dr. Michael J. An- derson, the President of The International Federation For Choral Music and one of the funniest men alive. I entered the program at the bottom of the heap, due to my lack of basic music theory and piano skills. I was accepted however, based on my talent and ambition. I quickly moved up in the ranks, practicing for hours on end each day, studying until dawn most nights, ma- naging all of the choirs, learning to conduct and read
