ASSOCIATIONS California Public Parking Association (cont’d)

parking operations, enforcement and collections.

In March 1989, more than 100 industry people and vendors gathered in Monterey, CA, to dis- cuss mutual concerns in the field of parking management and control. As a result of this meeting,

the California Public Parking Association was created.

The CPPA has established the following organi- zational goals: To build and maintain a statewide organization of parking professionals; to foster mutual support among members and promote and develop parking management as a profes- sion; to inform and support members in dealing with and solving parking problems; to provide an understanding of parking principles and prac- tices through information sharing, education and training; to act as a unifying force in the state of California to monitor, advocate, and promote parking related legislation which will aid and benefitmembers in the performance of their jobs.

The CPPA has successfully sponsored and pro- vided support or opposition for legislation affecting association members and employs a full-time lobbyist in Sacramento.
