Cost analysis White Paper
3. Deploy a hardened Access Gateway appliance and occasionally upgrade to newer versions that incorporate the latest security updates. These upgrades have been validated by Citrix, minimizing the work required by the administrator
Essentially an administrator can deploy Secure Gateway on a Windows Server and manage the overhead to assure security posture is maintained, or deploy Access Gateway and reduce the time required for reviews.
Assuming hourly fully-loaded labor cost of $100 per hour, an Access Gateway VPX virtual appliance is less than half the cost of a Secure Gateway deployment over three years.
Costs include:
• Hardware, operating system, and hypervisor • The application software license • Hardware maintenance • Software maintenance and patching
Note that the costs of initial configuration are not included since they tend to vary widely across different organizations. Due to this high variance, these costs are not factored into the core calculations in this document.
