From the Editor
I admit I usually don’t read fine print. But if you do, you noticed an addition to the Worship Arts Editorial Committee listed at the left: Mary Scifres. A point for you if you saw it. Another point for you if you
noticed (much less remembered) that in the highlights of the national Fellowship Council’s retreat, printed in the last issue, it was mentioned that Mary is a new at-large member of the council with responsibility for coordinating the newly-created Worship Interest Area. (Previously this was combined with arts in the Worship Arts Interest Area.) By virtue of her new position, Mary has become a consultant on the editorial committee.
Okay ... so what? The significance
is that adding Mary to the Worship Arts team gives us one more link to where you are, what your needs are. You may know her name because for many years she has co-authored the UM Worship & Music Planner with David Bone (another half-point if you know who he is!). Combining her experience as a clergy- person and her extensive contacts in the church with those of co-consultants Rosalie Branigan and Mike Muzzo gives us a rich resource for identifying topics and authors.
But you may have scored two and a half points and still feel we don’t play where you play – scratch the itches you have in your ministry. If so, please let us know. What are the issues you need addressed? Contact me at
WorshipArts@UMFellowship.org. Our newly-expanded team will do its best to even up the score.
