DVD: The Parish of Milford and Keyhaven - An Englishman's Parish
For those of you that enjoyed Patrick Kempe's earlier DVD's you certainly should not miss
this latest production .
Whilst the title is Milford & Keyhaven, it also give a quick insight into Downton, Hordle and
Lymore, with an interesting look at the geography of the area, its history, wildlife,
workplaces and pastimes.
It takes us on a trip through the seasons of the year. You hear the high winds cracking
through the rigging of the dinghies, the floods at Keyhaven Triangle, and the rough seas
crashing over the sea wall. All this and more, can be enjoyed from the safety and comfort of
your own armchair.
The pleasures of the walk along the headland with the thrift in all its splendour, the fantastic
views across to the Isle of Wight and The Needles and a walk through the Pleasure
Grounds all look so inviting it will inspire you to enjoy a walk yourself.
This could be called The Village Diary in pictures as it covers every main event of the year;
Dancing round the Maypole, the Arts & Music Festival, the Rowing Regatta, and Carnival
as well as the Remembrance Day Service at the Keyhaven War Memorial and the
Christmas festivities.
In this 85minute film you are bound to see either yourself or someone you know. and I
am sure there will be aspects of village life, past and present that you were unaware of or
had forgotten, which may inspire you to find out more.
