Once a week, Carol Rifkin makes
her drive from the Beaverdam area
to Well-Bred Bakery to purchase a
loaf of bread.
On Friday (Jan. 8), Rifkin along
North Buncombe Hero
with her bandmates in Paul’s Creek
Band will be the ones baking up
some treats as they will uncork
their unique, harmonious blend of
mountain traditional, folk, blue-
grass and jazz music for one of the
bakery’s first concerts of the new
year.
Rifkin is a longtime veteran of
not only the Weaverville but West-
ern North Carolina music scene.
Having been away from playing in
Weaverville for more than a year,
she said she is looking forward
to returning to Well-Bred’s cozy
nook.
“We’re excited to come to Weav-
erville and see old friends,” she
said.
