The School of Civil Engineering and
Geosciences at Newcastle University is one
of the largest groups in the UK to work at
the interface between the built and natural
environments. We are strongly research
focussed and our “world leading and
internationally excellent” research feeds
directly to our suite of 18 postgraduate
degree courses.
Our Masters programmes currently attract
more than 200 students each year and
cover the broad areas of:
• Environment
• Geochemistry
• Infrastructure engineering
• Transport
• Water resources
Each course carries a variety of professional
accreditation. Accrediting bodies include
the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution
of Structural Engineers, Royal Institution of
Chartered Surveyors, Geological Society,
and Chartered Institution of Water and
Environmental Management.
We pride ourselves on our facilities,
believing that with our excellent equipment
and environment, staff and students are
enthused to work harder. On campus, we
have dedicated laboratories for heavy
