A
re your employees pleased with your diversity programs? How have these initiatives impacted minority
professionals in the workplace? What are their views on diversity efforts? For answers to these questions and
to fi nd out which employers are ranked highly for successfully managing diversity and inclusion—workplace
confl ict, lack of professional recognition amongst women and people of color, leadership development, and reten-
tion—we asked the readers of Career Communications Group magazines to take part in the annual “Most Admired
Employers” survey.
For the 5th year running, readers of Women of Color magazine, and her sister publications, have selected the em-
ployers they admire the most. Despite the economic recession, the survey shows that many of the top employers
have maintained their commitment to effectively recruit, and to manage and retain diverse talent.
“Recruiting women and minorities, only to see them walk out of the door within a few years is a loss of investment
and opportunity,” says Career Communications Group publisher and CEO Tyrone Taborn. “Retaining promising
employees is just as important as recruiting them. Companies are moving beyond simply acquiring a diverse work-
force and calling it quits,” he said. “Our survey shows that many employers are successfully managing, embracing
and cultivating a diverse work environment. Minority employees give their employers improved marks on man-
aging diversity and being fair.” Employers named to the Most Admired list will be honored at a special event on
December 10, 2009 at Temple University.
