Anita Bryant Died For Your Sins
It’s 1977 and you are 15-years old and you are feeling the natural sexual urges to be gay. That is the premise of this
West Coast premiere written by Brian Christopher Williams called Anita Bryant Died For Your Sins. The main character
Horace Poore is trying to understand the world around him. He has a draft-dodging brother, a mad crush on Mark
Spitz and a totally hot gym teacher. Join him on this look back at a turning point in gay culture in this comedy of a
young man coming of age in the 1970s. Anita Bryant Died For Your Sins opens on August 28 for a limited six-week run
ending on October 4 at The West Coast Ensemble Theatre located now at the El Centro Theatre on 800 N. El Centro in
Hollywood. For performance times and ticket information, ring 323.460.4443.
Gaslight
Some may remember seeing the classic MGM suspense called Gaslight star-
ring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer. For those who didn’t catch the classic
film, Gaslight is the story of a conniving
and evil man and his plot to drive his
new wife crazy. She slowly thinks she
is going mad and begins to unravel as
she desperately tries to figure out what
is real and what is imaginary. Now, L.A.’s
oldest continually operating theatre
company, Theatre West presents this
Victorian thriller known as Gaslight.
This production is part of their Chest-
nut Series (Revivals of Old Plays) and
opens on August 28 running through
September 27. Theatre West is located
at 3333 Cahuenga Blvd in Los Angeles.
The box office is 323.851.7977 for show
times and ticket purchases.
