Park. Hit the bars in Hillcrest on a Sunday...everyone was cool and friendly. In the
first hour, I met a guy who owns the coffee shop across from where I live, a guy
who lives in my building and a guy who knows the producer of Bad Night. Small
world!
Rage: What can you tell us about Bad Night in a Men’s Room Off Sunset Boulevard?
DM: I call it an urban romantic comedy with a dark side. It’s a love story, a story of
accepting yourself—and accepting your parents (with their faults and all) for who
they are—so you can truly live.
Rage: What role do you play in the production?
DM: I play Michael, a movie star who gets arrested for compromising behavior
in a men’s room on Sunset Boulevard (that’s the look I normally get!) (Laughs).
Kinda like George Michael except with a twist. Needless to say, my career and life
fall apart. As a way of reviving my career, my manager arranges for me to do a play
in my hometown and I am reunited with my mother, father and an acquaintance
from high school. It’s a roller coaster from there with lots of laughs, tears, hope
and healing.
Rage: Though it’s on the smaller side as far as venues are concerned, Compass Theatre is a
Hillcrest treasure and has provided audiences with top-rate entertainment for a number of
years now. How did you get involved in this project?
DM: Oddly enough, through a database posting. I was immediately attracted to
the story. And once I read for the role, I knew I wanted it. The play is smart, funny
and romantic.
Rage: I read that the play contains nudity. Care to elaborate any on that subject?
DM: Yup, there’s nudity all right. This will be my first time naked on stage so I got
to admit I’m a bit nervous and have been hitting the gym like a mother f#@*%r. It’s
important to the story which is why I’m happy to do it. Plus it will be tasteful and
sexy as all hell!

Rage: What has your experience been like as an openly gay actor in Hollywood?
Douglas
DM: It’s great and a non-issue. I find...as long as I’m confident and comfortable
with who I am as a man and actor, it’s all good.
Myers
Rage: In addition to live theatre, you have acted in several motion pictures, most recently
in the hit, 3-Day Weekend. Do you prefer one style to the other and what is it that you enjoy
Star of Bad Night iN a MeN’s RooM most from each?
off suNset BoulevaRd DM: Definitely different. As you know acting on stage is a bit larger in contrast
to movies where it’s more subtle—0same intensity, different delivery. I love do-
ing both—it keeps me on my toes and helps me grow as an actor.
Summertime in Hillcrest will heat up this month as Compass Theatre brings to
its stage the sexy, smart and sidesplitting new show from playwright Ira Bateman- Rage: After Bad Night, what can fans expect next from Douglas Myers?
Gold. Star Douglas Myers, who will be making his San Diego acting debut in the DM: The sky is the limit! My hope is to do another feature real soon and I’ve writ-
play, recently spoke with The Rage Monthly about what audiences can expect to ten a couple short films (my first!), which I plan to shoot this summer. One of the

Douglas Myers: Yes. I’m really excited!

DM: Yeah, a little so far...checked out Balboa Park, the zoo, ate at some great Compass Theatre
restaurants (Prado in the Park was amazing!) and went to Ray at Night in North For tickets and more information call 619-688-9210.
