A
s the new HIVE information Officer at
Faslane, I first had to find out what a
HIVE was and what an Information Officer
was expected to do. To discover that there are
153 HIVEs around the world, serving Army,
Navy and Air Force personnel and their
families, providing them with information on
just about anything imaginable, sounded like
an exciting organisation to be involved in!
The big task ahead of me is to collate the
said information, which includes everything
from local schools to DIY shops. Then to
make a data base of HIVE Information
Sheets, so that it can be shared not only with
the people living locally but also with those
who may be moving to the area. Information
Sheets from other HIVEs will also only be an
e-mail away. Being impatient, I would like to
have all my information up-to-date straight
away but, in reality, I know that it is going to
take a few months. However, the good thing
is that while I’m gathering the details, I’m
learning so much more about the area that I
have lived in for the last 16 years.
