our school leaders had the
opportunity to attend the Impact Leadership training day. This was a wonderful opportunity for our
to develop their
skills, gain a better understanding of the roles and expectations of school
leaders and to
work with students from other schools. Our thanks to the parents who, again, gave their time to support our students by providing transport and their willingness to participate in the day's activities. Mrs Duncan was impressed with the
presentation, commitment behaviour of our leaders.
Next week our year 3 and year 5 students will be participating in the National Assessment Program - Literacy
and Numeracy
(NAPLAN). Every year, all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 are assessed on the same days using
national tests in Reading, Writing,
Language Conventions (Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation) and Numeracy. These tests are just one of the tools that are used by schools to gain an understanding of a child's
and leadership
At the primary assembly, representatives from the Salvation Army spoke to our students about the purpose of the Red Shield Appeal and the way money raised goes to support people in need. The Student Representative Council has nominated the Red Shield as one of our community activities and on Friday are hosting a 'Red Mufti Day'. It is hoped that all students will find something red to wear to school and bring a gold coin. We always look forward to the creative costumes that grace our playgrounds on our mufti days.
We are accumulating a number of jumpers and jackets in our lost property boxes. Whilst the mornings are cold, as the days warm up students are removing their warmer clothes and sometimes forgetting to return to collect them! Labelling all items of clothing will make it easier for us to ensure that
STAGE 3 PIE DRIVE Stage 3 students are holding a school wide pie drive until next Friday, 18 May to raise money for their Canberra Excursion. Please support this drive.
A Pie order sheet is attached to this newsletter. Please fill it in and return with the correct money to school.
