HOOKED
DANNY CIPRIANI
THE PUSH 60 SECOND INTERVIEW
Daniel Jerome Cipriani is a rugby union
footballer who plays fl y-half, centre and
fullback for London Wasps and England.
On Sunday 18 May 2008, Cipriani
suffered a serious injury during Wasps’
semi-fi nal play-off victory over Bath.
Cipriani was tackled by Olly Barkley
and got trapped at the bottom of a
ruck in the 49th minute at Adams Park.
His ankle was severely disfi gured. He
needed oxygen on the pitch before being
taken to hospital, where he underwent
surgery on the fracture-dislocation
of his right ankle. He was ruled out of
England’s summer tour of New Zealand
but made a quicker than expected
recovery to return to premiership rugby
in October and the England side the
following month. So what can a hockey
player learn from him?
