Heathrow ‘fast forward’ runway call
We say… “The government’s approval for a third runway at
Heathrow is welcome news, but it needs to fast forward the final decision and construction of the project.
“We cannot have a never-ending holding pattern of inaction, which postpones the economic boost and jobs a third runway would bring to the UK economy at a time when we should be demonstrating that Britain is open for business. Heathrow workers with tens of thousands of workers stand ready to build and deliver the new runway and trust that government ministers will put the national interest ahead of internal Tory politics.”

They say… Foreign secretary Boris Johnson MP, famously “vowed” to
lie down “in front of the bulldozers” now doubts whether construction would ever start. He said, “The day when the bulldozers appear is a long way off, if indeed they ever materialise.”

Heathrow’s third runway has now been approved but Unite – representing over 34,000 workers at the airport – has urged the government not to delay on the final word and construction plans.
