PRODUCTS PUMPS & VALVES TOUGH PILOT VALVES FOR HARSH ENVIRONMENTS

Festo has launched the VDFD robust pilot valve for process automation applications. Exceptionally tough, it provides excellent performance even in harsh environments found in the pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical and oil and gas industries, enabling operations managers to improve uptime and productivity. The valve is suitable for actuation of

butterfly valves, cylinders, diaphragm drives and rotary drives for emergency shut-down functions and safety- orientated systems up to Safety Integrity Level 4 (SIL 4) as per IEC 61508. A titanium dioxide plated surface guarantees high abrasion resistance and makes it extremely resilient within highly aggressive and chemical atmospheres. Furthermore, it is available with several Ex- protection methods to best serve the needs

of each application and provides ATEX protection for zone 1/21 (gas and dust). Reliability of the 3/2-way valves is exceptional as an exhaust protector ensures that no atmosphere or environmental contaminants such as dust, ice or snow can enter and degrade it. This ensures it provides a long service life even in demanding applications. Internal and external pilot air functions have been integrated in a single valve and it can be converted simply by turning a screw depending on the function required. As a result machine builders and engineers only need to stock one part and can simplify their stock management and make associated cost savings. The valve has two connection options: a NAMUR-port for direct installation on an actuator as well as G and NPT threads for in line connection. The NAMUR interface valves are exceptionally quick and easy to install. No tubing is required and as the valves are installed directly on a drive engineers can save further set-up time and costs. “Festo is committed to the expansion of our Process Automation portfolio and helps customers in this sector to maximise their productivity,” says product manager Steve Sands. “Following the introduction earlier in the year of our VSNC low cost NAMUR solenoid valve for standard applications we are now expanding the range to address the more demanding applications. The VOFD sets the highest standards of performance and reliability. We are very excited that our significant investment in new products for this sector is really starting to come through to the market.”

ROTARY VANE VACUUM PUMPS AID FILL PROCESS

PLF International (PLF) is offering its customers an efficient filling solution thanks to Elmo Rietschle rotary vane vacuum pumps. “We rely on Elmo Rietschle vacuum pumps for our

entire range of container filling equipment,” explains operations manager Nigel Rowland. “Both the V-VC303 and V-VC500 rotary vane

machines can be used in any machine that we manufacture. The pumps help us to deliver a quality service for a variety of sectors from food and beverage applications to the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. Elmo Rietschle vacuum pumps are vital to how our machines function. They evacuate all the atmospheric air out of the container, making it easier to fill with powder. Our customers can satisfy demand with our machines capable of filling over 300 containers per minute.” “From our long-standing relationship with PLF

we understand the company’s vacuum pressure requirements,” says Gareth Topping, vacuum and blowers sales manager at Gardner Denver. “The V-VC303 and V-VC500 rotary vane pumps

are ideal for PLF’s rigid container filling systems, particularly in food and beverage applications as they offer low noise and energy levels. The nature of rotary vane technology comes into its own in terms of reliability. With fewer parts it minimises maintenance downtime for PLF International’s customers. When it comes to servicing we have over 100 qualified engineers in the UK and a worldwide network of distributors that specialises in a range of on-site maintenance. We are able to provide PLF International’s customers around the world the vacuum pump maintenance support they require.”

FLEXIBLE LINEAR DIAPHRAGM VALVE

Durapipe UK has launched the Durapipe Dialock Valve which is packed with innovative features designed to maximise flow rate, improve accuracy and increase operational efficiency. A patented locking handwheel allows the valve to be adjusted and locked in over 300 positions, more than any other diaphragm valve on the market, offering complete flexibility to the end user. Offering significantly increased flow rates due to the optimised design of the valve body, the Durapipe Dialock valve is the most linear diaphragm valve available with the new internal geometry allowing a substantial increase in flow coefficient values and a reduction in pressure loss. The opening percentage of the valve can be seen immediately by a high visibility graduated optical positioning indicator, ensuring the flow rate can be regulated intuitively by a simple visual check. Completely corrosion resistant, the operating mechanism is manufactured entirely in glass reinforced polypropylene, eliminating the use of metal parts exposed to the external environment and making the valve suitable for conveying aggressive chemicals in corrosive environments. Durapipe’s patented integrated labelling technology is present on the Dialock product, enabling end users to customise the valve according to specific needs, whether that is for branding purposes, service needs or to identify the fluid being conveyed. With three actuation options available, the Durapipe Dialock valve can be easily installed into fully automated processes. “Initial feedback has been extremely

positive and we are excited about demonstrating the product’s benefits to the industrial market, says industrial brand manager Rich Pedley. “With so many technological advances we are expecting it to be a huge success.”
