USA Shooting Competes at World Cup Croatia


Paralympic athletes from the USA Shooting Team wrapped up the Internation- al Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Cup in Osijek, Croatia after a week of competition and quota op- portunities. The IPC World Cup was the fi rst 2015 op- portunity the team had to earn Paralympic quota spots for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Mike Tagliapietra (Fond du Lac, Wisconsin) found success with two top-six fi n- ishes. Tagliapietra fi nished fourth in the P5 10M Air Pistol Standard SH1 event after a shoot-off for third.


He then fi nished sixth in the P3 25m Pistol Mixed SH1 match. Already having earned a quota during World Championships last year, Tagliapietra was ineligible to earn another quota from his fi nals fi nish in Croatia. Tagliapietra also fi nished 35th in the P1 10m Air Pis- tol SH1 match, tying fellow teammate Shaun Tichenor (United States Army Marks- manship Unit/Brainerd, Min- nesota) with a score of 542. Other results included


Nick Beach (Dresden, Ohio) fi nishing 32nd in the R1 10m Air Rifl e Standing SH1 match, McKenna Dahl (Ar-


lington, Washington) fi nish- ing 48th in the R4 10m Air Rifl e Standing Mixed SH2 match, and John Joss (US- AMU/Corsicana, Texas) fi n- ishing 45th in the R3 10m Air Rifl e Prone Mixed SH1 match and 16th in the R6 50m Rifl e Prone Mixed SH1 match. In the R5 10m Air Ri- fl e Prone Mixed SH2 match, Ernesto Aquino (Hawthorne, California) fi nished 46th ahead of Dahl, who fi nished in 48th and Israel Del Toro (Cibolo, Texas) in 54th. match, Kerry Morris (Grand Prairie, Texas) fi nished 48th in the P1 10m Air Pistol SH1 match. Newcomer to the USA Shooting scene Trisha Downing (Denver, Colorado) fi nished 25th in her event, P2 10m Air Pistol SH1. For the P4 50m Pistol Mixed SH1 match, Tagliapietra fi n- ished 38th after making it through the Day 1 Elimina- tion stage. The next quota opportu-


nity for the Paralympic ath- letes will be at the World Cup in Sydney, Australia this month.
