Orlando, has been a destination for visitors since 1887. One easily could spend an entire day exploring the Saturday morning farmers market at the old train depot and the many boutiques, galleries, and restaurants nearby. Winter Park galleries include the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, which boasts the most comprehensive collection of pieces by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The Cornell Fine Arts Museum, located on the campus of Rollins College, features more than 5,000 works ranging from antiquity to contempo- rary European and American pieces. Plus, admission is free. Another unforgettable way to
experience the area is on a one- hour Winter Park Scenic Boat tour of the pristine Winter Park chain of lakes, which cover 2,781 acres and are connected by man-made canals. The tour glides past towering cy- press and provides a glimpse of the opulent private waterfront homes and estates. Green spaces abound in this
urban area as well. In the heart of downtown Orlando is Lake Eola Park, which features a majestic fountain and graceful swan boats. Guests visiting in the evening can see a six-minute choreographed light and music fountain show run-
ning nightly at approximately 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. (later in summer). Orlando is home to more than
2,000 lakes, springs, and rivers, offer- ing everything from canoeing, tubing, and Jet-Skiing to ecotours through the headwaters of the Everglades. If you have a strong sense of adventure, you can glide through the treetops with a zip-lining experience at For- ever Florida or learn hang gliding at Wallaby Ranch Hang Gliding Flight Park. And if golf is your style, Orlando is the place to hit the links, with more than 170 golf courses and resorts and nearly a dozen golf academies.
Serve your inner gourmet If you think dinner in Orlando is all about quick and simple for the Disney set, prepare your palate. One of the freshest takes on the plate in Orlando is the East End Market in Audubon Park. A veritable feast for the eyes and the stomach, the mar- ket offers a wide range of vendors selling “locavore” fare and artisanal baked goods.
