When you have managed to catch up on some sleep, taken a few deep breaths and stopped handing out business cards to anyone who will take one, there comes a moment to sit and reflect on what exactly occurred at MIPIM this year. The last night went off with a bang, with the hard- core among the delegation partying until the sun


started to poke its head above the horizon of the Mediterranean Sea, and the rest trundling with their bags to Cannes train station or catching a transfer to Nice airport, where there were yet more opportunities to network. Hands up anyone who knew fewer than five people sharing the same homebound transportation as you? But that is what MIPIM is all about, isn’t it? Networking. And this


year the opportunity to expand your network was greater than it has been for many a year. According to the final figures from MIPIM organiser Reed MIDEM,


there were some 22,000 real estate professionals at the conference in 2015. And that’s just registered delegates. Among them was a greater number of companies from North America – some 15.3% more from the US and a whopping 80% more from Canada. Turkey too was stuffing itself into Cannes (sorry), with 228 Turkish compa- nies in attendance, a 32% increase on 2014. A veritable smorgasbord of countries – 93 in total – took part in MIPIM this year. Estates Gazette, with a its own big new push into providing you with property intelligence on a global scale, was keen to meet as many different property players as possible. And with a 25-strong delegation of our own, we hope we have managed to do that. But for now, as you organise the hundreds of business cards you
