heart in the sand as warm water laps close by. Choose a garden and a fl ower-strewn garden gazebo can be the centrepiece for your wedding.

How about having Mickey Mouse for a guest? Walt Disney World hosts weddings and the bride can even arrive in Cinderella’s coach. Or, you could get wed in a helicopter or hot air balloon and even under water!

Couples choose Florida for a celebration, not just because there is a great chance of sunshine, but because there’s an excellent choice of food. Menus can be as simple or elaborate as desired, depending on the budget.

Also, the

wedding or civil partnership can be combined with a

honeymoon – at a beach hotel or villa,

a theme park hotel, cruise ship or even a tent in one of the state's national parks. Orlando’s theme parks – Disney, Universal and SeaWorld – are just as popular with honeymoon couples as families. Spend the day on thrill rides and then head out to party at Downtown Disney or Universal CityWalk. Cocoa Beach on the Atlantic Coast is great for surfers, the Everglades for walkers and cyclists and Miami for 'beautiful people' who want a touch of the glamorous side of Florida. Couples who want to sail further afi eld should consider a honeymoon cruise. Major cruise liners leave ports, including Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Port Canaveral, for destinations including the Bahamas and Caribbean islands.

Only one thing to do… say I do to Florida! •

Bartering for a great wedding package if dealing direct with a hotel, and taking a party of guests with you.

Hiring a car for two and having a honeymoon on the road, driving from one beautiful beach resort to another.

Taking advantage of Florida’s superb and beautiful waterways and getting married on a yacht, sailboat or even a kayak.

Driving over Dunedin Causeway to Honeymoon Island to stay in one of the purpose-built thatched bungalows for newlyweds.

If on a budget,

honeymooning in the hot summer months when Florida can be quieter and hotel prices can be cheaper.

Getting any perks you can on the fl ight or in your resort by letting everyone know you are celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary.
