Weir, Lipinski to lead 2018 Olympic fi gure skating broadcast team Olympic cham-
pion Tara Lipinski, two-time Olympian Johnny Weir and veteran announcer Terry Gannon were introduced earlier this fall as NBC’s lead fi gure skat- ing commentators through the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. The trio kicked off their season with 2014 Hilton
HHonors Skate America in late October. Weir and Lipinski took the broadcast world by
storm last season, providing commentary as colorful as their now-famous wardrobes, during the 2014 Pru- dential U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Boston and 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The new team replaces Scott Hamilton, Sandra
Bezic and Tom Hammond, who were NBC’s lead fi g- ure skating announcers at the last four Olympic Win- ter Games, dating back to the Salt Lake City Games in 2002. Hamilton will continue to work as a special contributor to NBC through the 2018 Games in South Korea.
The announcement was made on NBC’s “Today”
show during what was coined a “Tara and Johnny To- day Show Takeover.”

Brown teams up with Ronald McDonald House Charities
Olympian Jason
Brown teamed up with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chi- cagoland and North- west Indiana to donate new stuff ed animals thrown onto the ice (to him) at competitions, beginning with 2014 Hilton HHonors Skate America in his home- town of Chicago. “As a Chicagoland
native, it’s wonderful to be able to give back to the local communi- ty,” he said. Brown hosted sev-
eral Ronald McDonald House families at Skate America. Fans responded to the skater’s request by showering the ice with stuff ed animals. While at Skate America, Brown made visits to the fi ve Chicagoland area Ron-
ald McDonald Houses. During a visit to the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s Hospital
over Thanksgiving week, Brown presented his donations from both Grand Prix Series events, Skate America and Rostelecom Cup, to the families staying togeth- er at the Ronald McDonald House downtown location.
