Million dollars earned for the U.S. Men’s National Team after winning the 2014 FIVB World League with a four-set victory over Brazil in the championship match on July 20. The Americans were led by tournament most valu- able player Taylor Sander. The Americans went 11-4 during the two-month tournament, opening with seven straight victories. It was the second time the U.S. Men’s Team has won the prestigious event.

Two coaching gold medals for Mike and Patty Dodd on the same weekend in July. While Mike was helping Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal capture the FIVB Men’s Grand Slam title in Long Beach in late July, Patty was guiding the U.S. wom- en’s team of Jace Pardon and Brittany Tiegs to the gold medal at the World University Championships in Porto, Portugal. During their playing days the Dodds also won professional events on the same weekend.

Turnout of teams for the 2014 install- ment of USA Volleyball’s Junior Beach Tour Championship held over
three days at Bradford Beach in Milwaukee. Matches on center court were streamed live on the USA Vol- leyball website, offering fans at home the opportunity to watch the premier tournament hosted by the Badger Region.
Plaque on the legendary Manhattan Beach Pier for U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team assistant coach Matt Fuerbringer after winning the prestigious Manhattan Open in 2013 with partner Casey Jennings. Fuerbringer enjoyed the ceremony to unveil his new plaque with family and the Jennings’ family during a ceremony hosted by AVP announcer Chris McGee.
Individual awards for the 2014 U.S. Boys Youth National Team, which won the gold medal at the NORCECA U-19 Continental Champion- ships in Tulsa, Okla., in July under head coach Ken Shibuya. It was only the third time that USA has won the championship and the fi rst since 2008. T. J. Defalco (Best Spiker and MVP), Jordan Ewert (Best Receiver), Scott Stadick (Best Blocker), Micah Ma’a (Best Setter) and Josh Tuaniga (Best Server) all took home individual awards.
Consecutive gold-medal match appearances for the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team at the NORCECA Women’s U18 Continental Championship held in San Jose, Costa Rica in July. Team USA earned a spot into the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U18 World Championship by winning the silver medal, despite falling to Dominican Republic in the championship match.
