Joel C. Gregory, editor, Baptist Preaching: A Global Anthology, Baylor University Press, 2014
Baptist Preaching: A Global
Anthology, was launched during the Baptist World Alliance Annual Gathering in Izmir, Turkey. It is a compilation of 35
sermons from all six regions of the BWA
– Africa, Asia Pacific, Caribbean, Europe, Latin America and North America. Joel Gregory, editor, offers previews, comments, analyses and assessments of each sermon in “an attempt to contextualize the venue of the sermons.” The project was an initiative of the BWA Commission on
Baptist Worship and Spirituality “to pursue a collection of global Baptist sermons” representative of the period 2010-2015. “We have tried to present the sermons in their original voice and format,” Gregory wrote. “We attempted to represent the sermons as the individual homiletic creations they are.” Baptist Preaching is in honor of, and is in dedication to Paul
Fiddes, professional research fellow and director of research at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. Fiddes, principal of Regent’s Park College, Oxford, from 1989-2007, is a former chair of the BWA Commission on Doctrine and Interchurch Cooperation, now renamed the Commission on Doctrine and Christian Unity, in which he currently holds membership. Fiddes was co-chair of the international theological dialogue between the BWA and the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity from 2006-2010. Published by Baylor University Press, the publication was
supported by a grant from Georgetown College in Kentucky in the United States. Its free distribution to participants attending the Annual Gathering in Turkey was supported by grants from the George W. Truett Theological Seminary of Baylor University and by the seminary’s Kyle Lake Center for Effective Preaching. The book is available from all major online bookstores, including Amazon.com.

Golden Goal or Sudden Death focused on direct personal witnessing. The concept took its idea from the golden goal rule that
is used in some sports, including soccer, to decide the winner of a match. Under this rule, the team that scores the first goal during extra time is the winner. The game ends when a golden goal is scored. Participants in the Golden Goal mission
