Royalex Crisis, Solved? Canoeroots’ exclusive with Esquif Canoes owner Jacques Chassé about the potential for his all-new T-Formex mate- rial to replace Royalex got readers talking on Canoeroots- mag.com. Many were quick to celebrate, “Great news! Uncork the

champagne!” wrote Tom Vikander.Wayne Berry added, “10 percent lighter and 20 times more abrasion resis- tant—bring it on. Durable canoes are essential to the continued growth of paddling.” However, some readers were more skeptical: “With all

due respect, Chassé predicted that Twin-Tex would take over the Royalex canoe market and all but the ultralight category of the composite canoe market. It didn’t,” wrote pblanc. Alex Walker was quick to defend, pointing out, “That was when there was compe- tition, now that Royalex is out of the picture it should be a lot easier.” The Canoeroots team is excited about testing a new T-Formex model from Esquif—look for a review in the Spring 2015 issue.
