The Interview

GABRIEL MOYNAGH CEO OF

“We try hard to be the most customer-focused and the most flexible company in our space. We’ve worked hard to gain every customer, so we really try to do everything we can for them and as a result have developed a strong reputation in the industry for customer service.”

G

abriel Moynagh is Chief Executive Officer at Sysnet Global Solutions and oversees all Sysnet divisions, which have

grown to provide services in over 40 countries. Gabriel sits on Sysnet’s board of directors and also on the board of iScan Online, Inc., in which Sysnet has made a strategic investment. Gabriel joined Sysnet in 2005 and was responsible for Sysnet entering the PCI DSS space and the company’s decision to aggressively focus on that market. He initially held sales and account management roles and was appointed General Manager in December 2009, becoming CEO in January 2012. Just recently, it has been announced Gabriel had been shortlisted for this year’s EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Ireland.

What more can you tell us about Sysnet?

The company was established in 1989, and was one of the first open systems houses to develop a strong skill base in the area of TCP/ IP – the networking protocol upon which the Internet is founded. This gave the company

an early advantage in the development of its Information Security related business and today Sysnet helps businesses of all sizes to protect their valuable company information from cyber security threats. Sysnet entered the PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) space in 2005, which focuses on security threats to credit and debit card data processed by businesses of all sizes.

Three years later in 2008, we launched our proprietary web-based portal to assist banks and their SMB customers to achieve PCI DSS compliance. The large number of SMBs using the portal opened up a big opportunity for those banks to engage further with their customers and build their relationships with them, which led to the launch of Sysnet.airTM. The Sysnet.air solution builds and supports mutually beneficial relationships between SMBs and their financial institutions through the provision of SMB focused products. Examples range from security tools like anti- virus and firewalls to secure website building technology.

Our mission is to help our clients to strengthen their customer relationships by providing their customers with tailored, innovative solutions that add real value. Our vision is to be the partner of choice for financial institutions, when it comes to delivering value to their customers and creating loyalty.

How has the company developed in recent years?

Our organisation has grown significantly in recent years. We now have more than 160 employees with offices in Dublin, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, London, Cape Town, Kiev and Hyderabad. We have clients in more than 40 countries globally and over 800,000 merchants currently use our proprietary compliance management solution. In the UK and Ireland we work with the top seven acquiring organisations, including Barclaycard and Lloyds. We opened up operations in the US two years ago as it was the next most appropriate market for expansion. We consolidated our presence in that market with the acquisition of Panoptic Security,
