Nigerian Christians Pray continued

The Nigerian Baptist leader believed that the church has had an impact on the government response to the kidnappings of the schools girls. “We believe that our call on the government to do more on security is yielding fruit because after the call, the government has allowed the international community to help in rescuing the girls from their captors.”

He indicated that Nigerian Baptists have “spent several millions of naira (Nigeria’s currency) in providing relief for victims of Boko Haram attacks.” However, “we are completely overwhelmed because the havoc they cause now is on a weekly basis.” He asserted that “more assistance from the international Christian community is required to fund the education of children left without parents, women made widows and shelter for those whose houses were destroyed by fire.” Many churches, Ayokunle said, have been destroyed in terrorist attacks, leaving many without places of worship.
