possible to work with other disease networks through The Global Health Network and develop data standards for other tropical and neglected diseases.
I found the CDISC team enthusiastic about working with both WWARN and The Global Health Network in the future for developing new malaria data standards and supporting the introduction of CDASH and SDTM in clinical research data management systems in low-resource settings.
CDISC Eur ope Interchange in Paris, France: Great Success & SHARE
Progress Diana Harakeh, CDISC Manager of Communications Another Successful CDISC Europe Interchange! It is always a great pleasure to play a key role in planning and organizing for the CDISC Europe Interchange with the European CDISC Coordinating Committee (E3C). The 2014 Europe Interchange reached the highest attendance rate since 2008, with 100 additional attendees compared to the 2013 Europe Interchange. Over 300 people came to attend this event from 21 countries. The highest attendance rates were from France and the United States, followed by Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, Denmark, Switzerland, China, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Portugal, Poland, India, Italy, Finland and Austria.
New education courses were offered this year. Six courses were offered on Monday and Tuesday, and three were held on Friday. Due to high demand for CDISC SDTM and Define-XML courses, additional classes were open to allow for more registrations.
The Interchange would not be possible without the generous support of our Sponsors. We would like to extend our deep appreciation to Accenture (Diamond-level), TAKE Life Sciences, Oracle, SOA and Aris Global! A big thank you is also extended to our exhibitors who have played a significant role in encouraging attendees to network at this event. CDISC events are not only a conference; we strive to add a fun atmosphere to encourage networking among attendees, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors. Our networking event this year was also unique; art, history, pleasure and fine French food were shared amongst attendees who enjoyed the Palais de la Decouverte museum after a nice walk in lovely Paris.

Great Demonstration of CDISC SHARE at the CDISC Europe Interchange: CDISC SHARE was one of the key topics at this Interchange. SHARE is a global electronic repository for developing, integrating and accessing CDISC metadata standards in electronic format. “SHARE is about improving the end to end process from protocol through analysis, moving toward interoperability in the future,” stated Wayne Kubick, Chief Technical Officer of CDISC.
The SHARE session included presentations by Erin Muhlbradt of NCI and Simon Bishop of GSK, followed by a demo by Wayne Kubick of CDISC and Julie Smiley of SOA. Through concise messages, the SHARE demo illustrated its importance and significant roles to the audience through various images and sound-bites. “SHARE the Container” was the first description explaining how it organizes data and allows users to view specific types of content. "SHARE the Accelerator" allows us to collaborate, not only at a library level, but also on every singular object. “SHARE the Elucidator” allows us to make our business concepts explicit. “SHARE the Mystic” allows us to figure out how to achieve the vision of concept-based standards development. Other faces of SHARE included: “SHARE the Networker,” “SHARE the Facilitator,” “SHARE the Enforcer,” “SHARE the Critic,” “SHARE the Barbarian,” “SHARE the Explorer,” “SHARE the Enabler,” and “SHARE the Story-Teller.” The many faces of SHARE are anticipated to be offered as eSHARE and iSHARE for Platinum CDISC members in 2014.
Our Interchange would not be possible without the active participation of our attendees and team members. Join us for next year’s event and be part of the 2015 CDISC Europe Interchange in Basel Switzerland – the best place to relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery and have an amazing piece of chocolate with Swiss coffee!
