Splinting Tips: • Ensure the water in the splint pan is a t the appropriate temperature for the thermoplastic your are using. Most low temperature thermoplastics should be heated at 160°F (70°C).
• Use sharp, high quality scissors or shears to cut splinting material to reduce the risk of overuse injuries. • Use a separate pair of scissors to cut self-adhesive padding and strapping to keep your good scissors free from adhesive build-up. Non-stick scissors (p. 559) have a coating to prevent adhesive build-up and facilitate cleaning.
