TAYLOR WINS SECOND HODGE TROPHY: Penn State senior David Taylor captured his second Hodge Trophy as the nation’s best college wrestler. Taylor won his second NCAA title in leading the Nittany Lions to their fourth title.
NITTANY LIONS ARE KINGS AGAIN: Top-ranked Penn State held off No. 2 Minnesota and No. 3 Oklahoma State to capture its fourth straight title at the NCAA Championships in Oklahoma City. PSU’s Ed Ruth won his third title.
U.S. FINISHES 3RD IN EXCITING WORLD CUP: The United States team men’s freestyle team went 4-1 to finish third at a highly competitive World Cup in Los Angeles. An enthusiastic crowd saw Iran top Russia to win the title.
NEW WEIGHT, NEW OUTLOOK FOR LESTER: Two-time World bronze medalist and 2012 Olympian Justin Lester is having fun wrestling again. Lester is enjoying the move up to the new Greco-Roman weight class of 71 kilograms.
