Four youths repeat titles
at Folkstyle Nationals CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Four athletes repeated as champi-
ons in the youth divisions of the Cliff Keen USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals held at the UNI-Dome on April 6. It is the first leg of USA Wrestling's Triple Crown series. All four of the repeat champions won their titles in the Schoolboy/girl division (ages 13-14). Three of the champions won Schoolboy/girl titles for the second straight year. The other repeat champion was a Novice champion last year and jumped up to Schoolboy/girl this year. Colton Yapoujian of the Mile High Wrestling Club in Colorado won the 91-pound Schoolboy/girl title, defeating Oklahoma native Colt Newton of the Oklahoma Wrestling Academy in the finals, 1-0. Last year, Yapoujian was the Schoolboy/girl champion at 84 pounds. Taking the Schoolboy/girl title at 128 this year was Brock
Hardy of Team Utah, who pinned Washington wrestler Nathan Moore of White River in the finals at 2:10. Hardy won the 120- pound title last year as a Schoolboy/girl. Another repeat champion as a Schoolboy/girl was Oregon
star Travis Wittlake of Team Bucs, who stopped Michael Baker of the Golden Cross club of Ohio, 5-0 in the 144-pound finals. Wittlake was a Schoolboy/girl champion at 128 last year. The fourth repeat champion was Schoolboy 84-pound win-
ner Beau Bartlett of the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Academy, who pinned Cade DeVos of the Waukee Warriors in the finals in 55 seconds. Last year, Bartlett was the Novice 75-pound champi- on. A total of 994 youths competed in the event.
