BNY Mellon has appointed Frank La Salla as chief executive officer of its Alternative Investment Services (AIS) business. La Salla will report to Samir Pandiri, BNY Mellon executive vice president and CEO of asset servicing. He was most recently managing director at Pershing LLC, a BNY Mellon company, where he was responsible for all of Pershing's business outside of the US and led its global growth strategy. La Salla assumes a role Pandiri has held the past two years. He will be based in New York and oversee a team of more than 2,000 AIS professionals worldwide. Alongside his new role, La Salla will remain on the board of Pershing Limited in the UK and continue to represent BNY Mellon on the board of directors of Euroclear PLC and Euroclear SA. Before BNY Mellon’s acquisition of Pershing in 2003, La Salla was president and chief operating officer of BNY Clearing Services LLC. Prior to that, he served as managing director and chief operating officer at Société Générale Securities Corp. in the US.
The CLS board of directors has announced the appointment of Ken Harvey as chairman of the board of directors of CLS Group Holdings AG and CLS Bank International. He will succeed Gerard Hartsink who will retire as chairman and member of the board in October 2014, after seven years as chairman and 12 years on the board of directors. Harvey, an independent member of the CLS board of directors since 2012, brings over 30 years of global finance experience to the role, most recently as group chief technology and services officer and group chief information officer at HSBC. He also sits on the senior advisory board at Oliver Wyman, a major management consultancy firm and is an independent director at Amber Road, a leading provider of on-demand global trade management software and solutions.
Towers Watson has announced that Ed Francis has been appointed EMEA head of the company’s investment business, effective immediately. He succeeds Chris Ford who, after holding this position since 2011, has assumed the role of global head of investment. Francis joined Towers Watson in 2001 from PwC and has held a number of leadership roles during that time, most recently being a member of the EMEA investment leadership team and head of the UK client consulting teams. Francis has experience in consulting to institutional investors on the full range of investment matters.
Finisterre Capital has announced that David Burnside has been appointed as a partner and head of business development. Burnside will report directly to Frode Foss-Skiftesvik, co-founder and CEO. He will be responsible for communicating Finisterre’s strategies to prospective and current investors across Europe, the US and Asia and

working with the partners on Finisterre’s product development. Prior to joining Finisterre, Burnside was at BlueBay Asset Management LLP from July 2010, where he was a partner and head of alternatives. Before joining BlueBay, he spent seven years as head of European institutional marketing for Financial Risk Management. He has also held the position of European business and product manager for the fund of hedge funds business at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and was the founder of the capital introduction group within the prime brokerage unit at Goldman Sachs International.
Newedge has announced the appointment of Edward Kevelson as head of US OTC energy. Based in New York, he will report to Robert Vujtech, global head of energy. Kevelson joins Newedge from Deutsche Bank where he led the North American corporate flow team and held several senior commodities sales roles in since 2006. Prior to that, he was with Calyon Financial, BNP Paribas Futures, Salomon Smith Barney and Dean Witter Reynolds.
Dechert LLP has announced that Mark Browne has joined the firm as a partner with its Financial Services Group in its growing Dublin office. Browne has more than a decade of experience advising on all areas of investment funds in both Ireland and the Cayman Islands, in both the UCITS and alternative space and across all asset classes from equity to property. He also advises on key ancillary issues such as anti-money laundering regulations, corporate governance, derivatives and distribution. He has been particularly involved in advising upon the impact of the AIFMD. He is ranked as a leading lawyer for investment funds by both Chambers Global and The Legal 500.
KNEIP has announced that Jean-Luc Brach has been appointed as the company’s new chief information officer (CIO). Brach will be responsible for deploying new information technology in order to maintain strong business growth and facilitate the introduction of new innovative services. He will report directly to Lee Godfrey, deputy CEO, and will work closely with Stéphanie Noel, head of operations, and Renaud Oury, chief sales officer. Before joining KNEIP Brach worked at PwC as European Commission programme manager. Prior to this he worked at RBC Luxembourg, where he was a member of the CIO executive committee and director of the RBC infrastructure integration programme. He also spent nine years at Accenture, working as a partner and BeLux infrastructure consulting lead.
Maples Fiduciary has expanded its team in Delaware with the addition of Edward Truitt as regional head of fiduciary services, Delaware. Truitt has more than 26 years' experience in US fiduciary
services and has worked on and managed teams to deliver a diverse product set, including structured finance transactions, asset-backed securitisations, leveraged lease transactions, trust preferred securities, longevity products, banking products and a broad range of investment funds.
bfinance has announced the appointment of Emily Porter-Lynch, as a director, investment advisory. Prior to joining bfinance, Porter-Lynch was a senior investment manager at Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), where she developed the hedge fund capabilities of the UK’s second largest pension scheme and helped oversee a multi-billion-dollar allocation to hedge fund strategies. At USS Porter-Lynch was also a member of the alternative investment committee. Prior to joining USS, she was an investment director at Key Asset Management, where she worked closely with Dr Chris Jones and Dr Toby Goodworth, now respectively head of public markets and alternatives and head of risk management at bfinance. Porter- Lynch has 13 years’ experience in hedge funds and has served on numerous industry panels and committees as a thought leader on institutional investing in alternatives. She has a LLB in Law from Southampton University and holds the CAIA designation.
Commonfund has announced the appointment of Michael J. Warren to its board of trustees. Warren was recently named the managing principal of Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG), a global consulting firm he has been with since 2004. At ASG, Warren advises clients on emerging financial and economic trends and leads a number of growth, management, and business development initiatives for the firm. He is also a member of the investment committee of Albright Capital Management, an affiliated investment advisory firm focused on emerging markets. Most recently, Warren served in the Obama administration as the senior adviser for the White House Office of Presidential Personnel. Warren was also a member of the Obama-Biden Transition Project’s Agency Review Working Group, helping to oversee the international trade and economics agencies.
Moore Group has announced the appointment of Emma Price, an accountant specialising in private equity funds, as a senior manager. Price, who is an ACCA-qualified accountant will focus on supporting the expanding specialist management team, with the technical aspects of private equity, as the boutique business continues to grow. She has a wealth of experience, having trained at EY as an auditor before specialising in private equity with State Street and Triton Administration. Her appointment follows Jon Trigg’s promotion to head of European fund services. THFJ
