Taylor & Francis partners with Figshare for supplementary data


Taylor & Francis is partnering with Figshare, an online repository that enables researchers to host, publish and share their data. Tables, datasets, filesets, videos and graphs will become instantly viewable on Taylor & Francis


Online, easily discoverable from search engines and quickly hosted on Figshare. In addition, authors will also be able to share this material more easily and track usage through Figshare’s metric functions and every file


uploaded to Figshare will be allocated a DataCite DOI at the point of publication and stored under a Creative Commons licence.


Figshare has similar


partnerships with PLOS and F1000.


SAGE purchases The Goodwin Group


SAGE has acquired The Goodwin Group International, LLC, which publishes MD Conference Express, described as ‘the first publication to subject medical conference highlights to the rigorous test of peer review’. Jennifer Goodwin


Schünemann, founder and


president of The Goodwin Group International, who will continue to lead the business, said: ‘The backing of SAGE will enable MD Conference Express to expand our offering to include many more conferences, while maintaining the rigorous standards upon which our


partner societies, medical researchers, and physicians rely.’ From SAGE’s perspective, the acquisition aims to strengthen the publisher’s ability to disseminate peer-reviewed content in medical disciplines and complement SAGE’s current portfolio of more than 150 medical journals.


De Gruyter OA offering consolidated


De Gruyter is consolidating all its open-access (OA) publications under a new imprint: De Gruyter Open. The publisher Versita, acquired by De Gruyter in 2012, will be fully subsumed under the new imprint. The De Gruyter Open portfolio contains more than 100 books and more than 350 journals. Last year the De Gruyter Group is said to have published more than 15,000 OA journal articles. Publication is generally under the Creative Commons licence CC-BY- NC-ND, although authors and partnering institutions can select licensing forms that are less restrictive, says the publisher.
