Best in Shows
t was marvellous to meet so many of our readers, including retailers from the Footwear Today Best Sellers Panel, both at the Footwear Industry Awards event and at the Moda Show the
following day. The isles at the Moda Show seemed quieter than usual this
season, but on the stands a number of footwear manufacturers appeared to be taking orders and have reported a good response from buyers. At the time of writing, we are still awaiting visitor numbers from Moda and Pure London Show organisers, so my review of these shows will be in the April edition. As for product, the buyers I spoke to at the Moda Show felt that
Rieker, Josef Seibel and Tamaris had excellent collections, well priced and plenty of new ideas. In the more contemporary brands Fly London, Mjus and Airstep (renamed AS98) had some superb new ladies boot designs which are bang on trend and will grab the attention of your fashion conscious buyers. For a 100% waterproof ladies boot made from premium leather
for a reasonable price, my hot tip is Chatham, winner of the Outdoor Footwear Brand Of The Year Award 2014, which also has an excellent men’s range. Steptronic ticked all the boxes for the men’s retailers that I spoke
to during the show. Another busy stand was Superfit Legero, which had an excellent range of men’s, ladies and children’s styles. Highly commended in the Best Children’s Brand’ at the Footwear Awards, paid dividends for Garvalin, as retailers flocked to their stand on Monday morning. Platinum Shoe Award winner, Matt Wright, of Pediped also had a good show, as did Ricosta. Check out my top ladies footwear picks from the major trade shows
