HAP WILSON Fellow of the prestigious Explorer’s Club and co-founder of the environmental group Earthroots, Hap Wilson has paddled more than 60,000 kilometers across Canada. He’s also an artist, guide, photographer and author, well known for his paddling guide- books. HOWARD MEYERSON An award-winning environmental and outdoor journalist, Howard Meyerson has been writing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, for 30 years. He was drawn to writing about the largest private collection of wooden canoes in the nation after running into its collector on an afternoon stroll. “I saw the canoes on his driveway and was blown away by their beauty,” Howard says. “I’d never seen anything like them.” Howard takes you inside this collection on page 50.
