LETTERS to the EDITOR pipebandmag@gmail.com Regretting Move to Digital
Dear Sir, I am a subscriber to the Pipe Band Magazine. My subscription runs out later this year aſt er which I will be longer receive the magazine in paper form. Going digital is sad news for me as I do not own, or have access to, a computer. I have always enjoyed this very informative magazine and to me it should stay in paper format. T ank you, D McLaughlin, Gravesend, Kent
* I’m afraid the move to digital was inevitable Mr McLaughlin given the modern way of things. T e younger generation is simply not interested in buying paper magazines, the majority anyway. It
was a bold move by the Directors of the Association to approve the change to a free download and I would contend that their decision has been vindicated by the huge increase in readership this has wrought, with thousands of downloads in the fi rst quarter, January to end of March 2014. We wonder if you have access to a public library. Most of the big ones these days have internet access and the one in Windmill Street, Gravesend, does seem to have this facility. If so, you may be able to read the magazine there for free. If this does not suit you, please contact us once again when your subscription runs out and we will see if there is some other way round the diffi culty……Editor
