With this year’s Bike and Tri show just two short, busy months away from opening its doors for the second time, BikeBiz finds out how organiser’s intend to up their game in 2014…


THE BIKE and Triathlon Show will open its doors to a host of exciting exhibitors and brand new interactive features when it returns to the North West in March 2014. Exclusive to the 2014 instalment is the UK’s


only pop-up track racing cycle event – the Street Velodrome – which is the first of its kind to feature live in the UK where visitors can take part in a fun ‘Top Gear’ style leader board event. Crowd favourite Rollapuluza, where competitors go head-to-head to see who reaches 500m first, returns for the second year. Cyclist magazine, one of the major sponsors of the show, will also be hosting a ‘Cycling Theatre’ and will be revealing further exclusive content in the coming weeks.


Big names set to showcase their latest


products include Planet X, which has booked more than 100sqm, and popular Austrian brand KTM, which has only recently become available to retailers in the UK following a few years scoping the market's potential. The show will feature an exclusive product launch from Starley Bikes, who will be exhibiting its UK built bikes. Colin Gale, event manager at Hamerville

and exhibitors to retreat to when discussing business. The Trade Lounge will be a place for exhibitors, including the likes of Mark Almond of cycling specialist Red Cloud Marketing, to give seminars tailored specifically for bike retail. Other seminars open to visitors include features from Compex, Wattbike, Precision Hydration, Rotor and Clif Bar who will be hosting nutritional seminars with Joel Enoch and offering one to one consultations. Citrus Lime, who provides multi-channel solutions for cyclist retailers will also be holding seminars. Come along, grab a coffee and a copy of the magazine on your way in or out of the show.

Leading sports travel group Sports Tours International will be inviting sports enthusiasts to their Sports Tours Café to pick up inspiration for their next running, cycling and triathlon event. Matrix Bikes, Azione Carbon Bikes, ADR


Carbon, Roux and Rose Bikes will be among the exhibitors returning to the show next year. The National Open Water Coaching Association, Royles, Sports Tours International, Thistle Insurance Service Ltd and Zoggs will also have key roles on the show floor. Last year's popular Sportive, part of a commitment to up cycling interest in Manchester, is set to return on the Sunday and visitors choosing to cycle to the event can park their bike in the secure bicycle park supplied by Cycle Works. The Bike & Triathlon Show is open to the public on both Saturday and Sunday, with a particular trade focus on Sunday. Once again, Manchester Central is the venue and the show will run on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th March 2014, welcoming everyone from beginners to serious participants.
