APPROACHING ITS THIRD birthday, d3t is a fast-growing IT company that provides a unique source of high tech games development and programming expertise.


By late summer the Runcorn-based business, launched by two industry veterans, will have experienced three profi table years with 50 per cent growth in both 2012 and 2013, and will have doubled the size of its technical team thanks to ever- increasing demand for its services, especially from overseas. Services off ered by the company include porting, web services and back-end development, optimisation, rendering, networking, rapid prototyping, smartphone and tablet application development and full game development.


“We have a wide range of expertise in-house that client companies can benefi t from,” says d3t commercial director and co-founder Jamie Campbell. “Although we have vast experience in the computer games sector, our expertise covers a huge area including business-to-business software development.” Campbell’s co-founder and development director of d3t is Steve Powell, who he has worked with since 2001.


Both were founding members of Warrington-based Juice Games in 2003, also known as THQ Digital Warrington, but it was Campbell and Powell’s redundancy in 2011 that led them to launch their own business.

“That was when we had the idea of forming d3t, a business which would off er our combined skills to a wider audience in the business world. In fact the name d3t is an acronym for designing, developing and delivering excellence in technology to our clients,” explains Campbell.


“Steve and I discussed the project in detail, we both liked the concept and together we launched the business


using some of those excellent people we had worked with before.” Not surprisingly many of d3t’s fi rst clients came from the gaming world. One of their fi rst commissions was to work on Cold Beam Games’ Beat Hazard Ultra and that was followed by many other published games, as well as covert technology consultancy for a multitude of studios. More recently they won a


commission to work on another game, Lemmings Touch for Sony Computer Entertainment’s XDEV Studio Europe. It has also worked on the likes of Yippee Entertainment’s Chimpact (PSM) and Guerrilla Games’ PS4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall, to name just a few.


“At d3t we are technophiles, not just gamers, so we were delighted when we were asked to work as technology partners for a vehicle tracking organisation, developing smartphone apps, web services, fi rmware, and back-end as well as front-end systems,” says Campbell.


“With career backgrounds including business software development and embedded systems, we knew d3t was about more than games and as time went by we began to attract clients from all sectors.”

He adds: “The future for d3t looks extremely bright as our message continues to reach decision makers in the business world. Our mission is to make our unique in-house expertise and skills available to clients who want us to remove development headaches and meet challenges, and that is exactly what we’re doing.”
