Why I Buy Why I Buy Clarks

by Julie Watson / Children’s Buyer of Charles Clinkard At Charles Clinkard quality, style, value for money and fit are always at

the forefront of our buying decisions, especially where our children’s department is concerned. As a business we have worked with Clarks for many years and as such the brand has and continues to be our major children’s supplier.

Clarks has always been very fit orientated which is a perfect match with

our own company ethos. We are pleased that over the years the Clarks brand has developed in such a way that it now able to deliver good quality, affordable and multi fitted products across the many market groups, which is no easy thing to do bearing in mind the age profiles we need to cater for. Within these market groups and age ranges Clarks provide us with school shoes, sports, seasonal and the very important first shoe package. These ranges are offered to us with products to suit the more traditional customer alongside more fashion focused and edgy products which appeal to a new customer base.

Price is always important and in these challenging times in my role as

Buyer this has become an even bigger focus to ensure that we have a commercial price architecture to appeal to all, no matter what their budget. By offering the “good, better and best” options within the range Clarks have helped my role enormously by streamlining the range and allowing me to cater for all of our customers. In addition, we also achieve a decent margin with the brand in season.

From a re-ordering perspective the Clarks Automatic fill ups system is a

great time saver where repeat sales are concerned as all replenishment is carried out via an EDI stock replenishment system.

Why do I buy Clarks – this is simply due to their range of commercial,

quality, multi fit children’s shoes with an in stock service which continues to move with the fashion trends whilst maintaining its fitting properties.

Why I Buy Clarks by John Meeks of Edward Meeks Limited Ever since I have been in our business Clarks have always been the major

brand that we buy due to the sheer size and quality of the ranges. We do buy other brands, but Clarks offer us the whole range from first shoes through to wide ranges of ladies and men’s footwear. Our customers find the prices very reasonable and the styling, quality and comfort is excellent, especially over the last few years. It is a brand that all of our customers recognise and trust.

Another reason that we do so well with Clarks, is the support that we get

once the shoes have arrived in the shop. Clarks offer an Automatic fill ups and pattern management system through our tills which helps us to repeat quickly on good selling lines, and also means that we do not have to buy large volumes up front.

“The Clarks branding and point of sale

material is excellent, and the wide range of national advertising they are involved in helps to get people into our shops”.

The Clarks branding and point of sale material is excellent, and the wide

range of national advertising they are involved in helps to get people into our shops. Clarks also run staff incentives and promotional days throughout the year in store to drive footfall into my shops which always goes down well both with our staff and customers alike.

In business it always helps to have a good working relationship with the

brands that you deal with and Clarks definitely offer that to us. Long may it continue.
