With ISE 2014 returning to the RAI in Amsterdam in February, we look at what changes organisers are implementing to ensure an even bigger and better show than the record-breaking 2013 event.
INTEGRATED SYSTEMS Europe has grown from zero to 44,000 attendees in 10 years. That’s a significant achievement by any standard, but the organisers want to continue on this upward trajectory for some time to come. For ISE 2014, the show’s 11th outing, Integrated Systems Events is targeting a number of visitor groups that fall outside the show’s traditional audience – and it is using an enhanced Professional Development Programme to attract them. In addition, an added visitor entrance and enhanced signage and wayfinding screens will ensure attendees can navigate all aspects of the 2014 show and improve circulation around the RAI. Mike Blackman, ISE’s managing director, put it this way: “With ISE 2014 set to have a larger floor area than any of its predecessors, we also need to maintain the trend that has seen each edition of our show attract more visitors than the last. While the market for AV and electronic systems integration in Europe continues to grow, it’s clear that in addition to our core visitor channel of C- level integrators and installers, we need to attract attendees from other groups as well.” Two groups that ISE is looking to attract are end-

customers of commercial integration products and services, and content creation and experiential design professionals. With them – as well as ISE’s traditional attendee base – in mind, the Commercial Solutions Theatre in Hall 8 will focus on the end-customer benefits of systems integration in market sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, education, corporate, and government facilities. Additionally, content creators and live events companies will draw inspiration from the design of both of these on- site theatres, thanks to the assistance of a number of technology partners.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Focal points for the Professional Development programme will include two new theatre spaces on the show floor of ISE 2014 – one in Hall 7 aimed at the residential systems side of ISE’s market, the other in Hall 8 with a commercial application slant. In a drive to attract more junior engineers and technicians to the Amsterdam show, InfoComm International – one of ISE’s co-owners – is introducing an education voucher scheme at ISE 2014. Anyone registering
for the show using an invitation code will qualify for free access to two InfoComm educational seminars of their choice – on a first-come, first-served basis. “At ISE, we are acutely
aware that simply building a bigger tradeshow is no guarantee of increasing visitor numbers,” added Blackman. “By investing time, money, and resources into a greatly expanded Professional Development programme for ISE 2014, we believe we will have the content to bring not just the right quantity of new visitors to our event, but the right quality as well.” Highlights of the
Professional Development programme include InfoComm training sessions such as QSC Audio consultant Richard Zwiebel discussing ‘Network Everything: Implement a Single Network for Audio, Video, Control, Signage, P.O.S., and Data’, and audio consultant Roland Hemming, who will be debating the
plethora of industry standards and protocols in ‘Audio Networking and Control – What Do We Really Need?’
EXHIBITOR NEWS On display for the first time at ISE 2014 is a new MultiLoop Driver (MLD) range from Ampetronic. The MLD range of amplifiers drives current two loop systems in combination, featuring dual output channels and 90° phase shift in a highly compact single rack space. Consisting of three units with a range of output currents for efficient area coverage solutions, the range is headed up by the MLD9, which feature Class G amplifiers that are said to save up to 60% in energy consumption. Ampetronic’s new products also mark the adoption of the EN 62489-1 standard, an important new reference for measurement and rating of induction loop equipment. Co-exhibiting on the stand

of its Dutch distributor Iemke Roos, Symetrix will focus on its open architecture products that utilise Audinate’s Dante networking technology. This includes Symetrix SymNet Edge, Radius 12x8, and the conferencing- oriented SymNet Radius AEC.
Symetrix will also showcase open architecture standalone DSP SymNet Solus 16, as well as two fixed architecture solutions, Jupiter and Zone Mix 761. Shure Europe will be highlighting new features available as part of a free firmware update to the SCM820 Digital IntelliMix Automatic Mixer. Key to the upgrade is the addition of Digital Feedback Reduction (DFR), which brings audio professionals two added channels of adaptive EQ filtering to find and attenuate frequencies with too much gain, preventing the onset of feedback in live sound reinforcement systems. Other features include automatic feedback detection and filter deployment, and up to 18dB gain reduction per filter.
